WASHINGTON — Pressure is mounting on the Trump administration over conditions at the Baltimore ICE detention facility following WUSA9's exclusive whistleblower investigation.
Maryland Congressman Jamie Raskin conducted a surprise inspection of the facility Thursday and described what he witnessed as "extremely inhumane" — findings that mirror the shocking allegations from a former security guard who spoke exclusively to WUSA9 last week.
"It was appalling to see 55 or 60 men packed into a room the size of an average living room, and everybody was shoulder to shoulder, packed in," Raskin said.
Congressional delegation demands answers
On Friday, nine Democratic members of Maryland's congressional delegation sent a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem demanding answers about what they call "deeply disturbing" and "inhumane" conditions at the facility.
The letter demands ICE answer detailed questions about conditions by February 26, including whether female detainees have access to menstrual products — one of the key allegations from WUSA9's whistleblower interview.
The former security guard, whose identity WUSA9 disguised because he signed a non-disclosure agreement, described witnessing women given diapers instead of sanitary products.
