Hollywood star Rebel Wilson is facing yet another lawsuit over her troubled directorial debut as the production company alleges she blocked the film’s release with legal threats and falsely outed a young actor as a victim of sexual misconduct.

The new lawsuit, launched in Sydney by the film’s production company, claims the star “deliberately undermined” the release of her own film and knowingly told lies to damage her partners in the film.

The Deb, a musical comedy based on a stage show, centres on a debutant ball for teenagers in rural NSW and stars Charlotte MacInnes among other young Australian talent.

It premiered in September last year at the Toronto Film Festival but has yet to reach cinemas amid duelling allegations between Wilson and her business partners in the film.

Last July, Wilson claimed she reported “bad behaviour” by The Deb’s producers Amanda Ghost, Gregor Cameron and executive producer Vince Holden.
