In a global resolution of criminal and civil investigations, one of the nation’s largest privatized military housing providers will pay more than $33.6 million in criminal fines and more than $31.8 million in restitution after pleading guilty to a six-year scheme in which it falsified proof tied to housing performance incentive fees.

The resolution includes a False Claims Act civil settlement in which the Pennsylvania-based company, Balfour Beatty Communities, has agreed to pay $35.2 million civilly, but that amount will be credited against what is paying under the criminal plea, according to the U.S. Department of Justice, which handled both the criminal and civil cases.
