Rochdale whistleblower Maggie Oliver has warned that victims of grooming gangs are 'living in fear' of meeting their abusers on the streets as they defy court orders to send them back to Pakistan.
The ex-detective and campaigner said of convicted paedophiles Qari Abdul Rauf and Adil Khan, who have managed to stay in the UK for years since being freed: 'They should have been deported the moment they stepped outside those prison gates.'
She told of her 'horror' that members of the first Rochdale grooming gang finally brought down for raping and trafficking young children across England have been seen back in the Greater Manchester town.
Ms Oliver, who resigned from Greater Manchester Police after the force failed to act on allegations of widespread child grooming and sex abuse, told Mail Online their returns were 'a kick in the teeth' for their 're-traumatised' young victims.
Nine men were convicted in 2012 of a range of sexual offences against children including rape, trafficking and conspiracy to engage in sexual activity with children in and around Rochdale.
