Ron Johnson urges FBI and DOJ whistleblowers to come forward to 'expose wrongdoing' in Trump raid - Daily Mail

Ron Johnson pleaded in a letter sent to the FBI and Justice Department heads on Wednesday that agents and employees come forward with information related to the raid of former President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago home.

'I understand other members of Congress have requested that you provide a full explanation for the raid at the former president's residence. I request that information immediately,' Johnson wrote to Attorney General Merrick Garland and FBI Director Christopher Wray.

'However, given your history of lack of transparency and obstruction of my investigations,' he continued, 'I am not confident that your explanation for the raid will be forthright, honest, or ease anyone's concerns.'

Fellow Republican Senator Rand Paul also predicted that the events surrounding the search will lead to the impeachment of Attorney General Garland.

'I think we have to know under what pretense they think this is right?,' Paul questioned.

'This is really something that's going to require an investigation,' he continued. 'And I wouldn't be surprised if the investigation leads to abuse of power that this could even lead to an impeachment of the attorney general.'

The Kentucky Republican said that if there is an investigation, it would 'look at whether or not the attorney general has misused his office for political purposes.'
