Schumer calls for ‘whistleblowers’ to report on Trump administration from within - CatholicVote org

CV NEWS FEED // Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-NY, is facing widespread criticism after announcing Monday the creation of an online portal for “whistleblowers” to report to Senate Democrats on the Trump administration.

“Today, I’m calling on our brave public servants,” Schumer wrote on X Monday morning. “I’m launching a new portal for anyone who wants to expose corruption, abuses of power, and threats to public safety with the legal protections of being a whistleblower.”

The portal, which is part of the Senate Democratic Caucus’ government website, provides a form for people to submit “whistleblower complaints.”

The form asks each entrant for a name, organization, and contact information. It divides complaints against the administration into four main categories: “retaliation,” “wasteful spending,” “fraud,” and “criminal activity;” as well as an “other” option.

Additionally, the portal asks users to explain their complaints and name the “agency or organization involved.”

“Whistleblowers are a vital part of Congressional oversight to hold the administration accountable,” the portal’s webpage states.

In a Monday “Dear Colleague” letter announcing the portal, Schumer wrote to fellow Democratic senators: “Senate Democrats, led by our committees, are using every tool at our disposal to hold the Trump Administration accountable for its lawless actions.”
