A secret report by law firm Allens reveals KPMG relied on just 14 half-hour interviews and the say-so of partners to clear itself of serious misconduct, raising questions about the suitability of chairman Michael Ebeid to continue in the role given he was part of a board team involved in handling the whistleblower matter.
The report, known internally as “Project Magenta”, shows Allens found repeated misconduct but did not seek further evidence relating to many of the allegations “given the credibility” of the partners interviewed.
