Seven NLC employees named in the search and seizure warrant including the deputy provincial head
The SIU and the Hawks raided the Kimberley headquarters of the National Lotteries Commission (NLC) and the home of two senior officials on Thursday.

The SIU says the province was scouted for non-profit organisations who were then helped to fill in application forms in exchange for a 30% kickback of the grant obtained for NLC employees.
On Thursday, the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) and the Hawks swooped on the provincial headquarters of the National Lotteries Commission in Kimberley and the home of the Commission's Northern Cape deputy head and her live-in partner, who is the provincial legal officer.
The early morning raid followed a tip-off by two different whistleblowers who told the SIU how "runners" were being used to "scout the province" for suitable non-profit organisations. These non-profit organisations were then helped to fill in application forms in exchange for paying a kickback of 30% of their grant, according to the SIU.
Computers, hard drives, and documentation relating to grants issued between 2014 and 2020 were seized during the raid on the NLC's offices and the private home of the two senior employees.
