South Plainfield Police Captain Files Whistleblower Lawsuit, Defense Says Claims Are 'Without Merit' - TAPinto.net

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – A veteran captain of the South Plainfield Police Department (SPPD) has filed a civil lawsuit against the borough's top cop, department, and municipality.

In the lawsuit, filed with the Middlesex County Superior Court in late December 2021, Capt. Charles Siedenburg accuses Chief James Parker of 'sexual, professional, and official misconduct' and alleges that he has been the victim of retaliation over a nine-year period for reporting the alleged acts. The Borough of South Plainfield, however, is disputing all allegations.

In the 23-page complaint obtained by TAPinto South Plainfield, Siedenburg references incidents that date back to 2005, when Parker was an internal affairs lieutenant, through the present. He accuses Parker of watching pornography and engaging in inappropriate sexual conduct with female borough and police department employees, including a former dispatcher, while on duty. Siedenburg claims that Parker's promotion to chief in 2010 and his alleged sexual relationship with the dispatcher enabled the subordinate to repeatedly violate SPPD and borough policies and procedures that put the public at risk; said dispatcher was terminated in 2020 and, soon after, filed her own lawsuit, which was dismissed.
