Susan Douglas MacGregor
NEGAUNEE, MI – Susan Douglas MacGregor, age 61, a long-time resident of Negaunee, passed away on March 29th, 2022, at Brookridge Heights Assisted Living Facility under the loving care of Lake Superior Hospice after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by friends.
Susan was born on July 15th, 1960, to Robert A. and Judith (Freeman) Douglas in Detroit, Michigan. She was a 1978 graduate of Rockford High School, a 1981 graduate of Ferris State University, and a 1988 graduate of Valparaiso University School of Law. In 1990, Susan accepted a career law clerk position with the US District Court Western District of Michigan in Marquette and deemed herself a “Yooper.” In 1995, she opened the Upper Michigan office of Plunkett & Cooney, PC, where she focused her practice on tort liability and insurance defense. In 2003, Susan then moved to the office of Kitch Drutchas Wagner Valitutti and Sherbrook where she practiced employment law and medical malpractice defense. She became a principal in the firm in 2005. Susan was proud of the work she did for her clients and had an outstanding trial record. She was moved regularly by the many “thank yous” she received from her clients. She was a member of the State Bar of Michigan and participated in a variety of committees over the course of her career. She particularly enjoyed giving presentations on employment and health law.
