Teacher clears name amid false claims of propping door open during school shooting - WOAI

UVALDE, Texas — Newly unsealed records have shed light on the response following the tragic shooting at Robb Elementary School, revealing a directive for silence and a struggle for transparency.

Amy Franco was a speech pathologist at Robb Elementary in May 2022. She was at the school on the day of the shooting, and was the last person inside before the shooter entered.

That led to a misunderstanding that persists to this day.

In a news conference in the days after the shooting, DPS officials said she propped the door open, allowing the shooter inside.

That was later proven to be false.

That's what people still believe today, that I left that door open," Franco said.

Franco's boss had informed the superintendent of this error shortly after DPS' statement.

In an email, her boss told former Superintendent Hal Harrell that she went to the hospital with Franco that day and was present for a conversation between Franco, a Texas Ranger, and an FBI agent.
