Tejas Mk1 suffered no oil leakage at Dubai Airshow, govt fact checks fake claims - The Economic Times

The government on Thursday clarified that claims circulating on social media over the Indian LCA Tejas Mk1 suffering an oil leakage at the Dubai Airshow 2025 are false.

The Press Information Bureau's Fact Check unit clarified that the videos in circulation show a routine, intentional procedure and not a technical malfunction.

The misleading claims, amplified by several propaganda accounts, attempted to portray a performance issue with the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA). Authorities confirmed that the visuals depict standard draining carried out in humid environments, and not any form of leakage.

According to PIB Fact Check, the videos showing fluid release from the aircraft relate to the draining of condensed water from the Environmental Control System (ECS) and the On-Board Oxygen Generating System (OBOGS). These steps are part of normal aircraft operations in regions with high humidity, such as Dubai.

Officials said the claims circulating online are “fake” and emphasised that the narrative appears designed to cast doubt on the fighter jet’s performance and reliability.

The Tejas Mk1 has been participating in international airshows as part of India’s efforts to showcase indigenous aviation capabilities.

The Indian Air Force contingent arrived at Al Maktoum Airbase over the weekend for the airshow, which runs from November 17 to 21 and features participation from over 100 air forces worldwide.
