"There is no need to fear': Law enforcement says reports of ICE raids in Arizona are 'false' - 12news.com KPNX

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — Police departments in northern Arizona are dispelling reports of immigration officials allegedly deporting residents in local communities.

The Navajo County Sheriff's Office announced Friday that claims made on social media about Immigration and Customs Enforcement detaining local citizens were "false" and a "hoax."

"Unknown people are initiating fear among our citizens. There is no need to fear or panic," the sheriff's office wrote in a statement.

The Flagstaff Police Department has also recently stated that there have been no ICE enforcement or removal operations carried out in its area.

"Leadership at Homeland Security Investigations has assured us that they will notify us in advance if any enforcement or removal operations are planned in the Flagstaff area in the future," the agency wrote in a statement.

Gov. Katie Hobbs said there have been "no confirmed reports" of ICE raids in local communities when asked by the press on Friday. Hobbs added that her office is continuing to monitor the situation and indicated she's unwilling to partake in operations that disrupt local communities.
