Tigers Global Logistics agreed to pay $270,000 to resolve claims it violated California labor laws when paying non-exempt employees.
The settlement benefits non-exempt employees of Avent Group Inc. in California who were assigned to work for Tigers (USA) Global Logistics Inc. between Oct. 3, 2015, and March 15, 2021. The settlement also includes a subclass of Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) employees who worked for Avent and were assigned to work for Tigers between Aug. 30, 2018 and March 15, 2021.
Tigers Global Logistics provides global supply-chain, technology and freight-forwarding services to a number of companies in California. Avent Group is a staffing company that provides non-exempt, hourly employees to work with Tigers in various roles.
According to a 2019 class action lawsuit, TigersGlobal Logistics violated several California labor laws when paying Avent employees.
The plaintiff in the case claims Tigers failed to pay minimum wage and overtime wage, denied employees rest and meal break periods, failed to pay wages in a timely fashion and provided inaccurate wage statements.
The wage-and-hour class action lawsuit sought relief under California wage-and-hour laws, including PAGA, a state law allowing employees to take legal action on behalf of California’s labor authority.
Tigers hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to resolve these allegations with a $270,000 settlement; $60,000 of this settlement total is a PAGA penalty.
