The TikTok star whose family say she is being held against her will by a religious cult posted a taunting video to mock their fears on Monday night.
Miranda Derrick's family say the 25-year-old has been brainwashed by 7M, her TikTok management company. 7M's founder Robert Shinn is also a pastor of Shekinah International, a church that Miranda and her new husband James - another TikTok dancer - both belong to.
Miranda is believed to live in an apartment with James. She also spends time at the Shinn home, a $3.5million property in north Hollywood, and in other L.A. mega-mansions where they film their lucrative viral videos.
On February 24, her mother, father and sister posted a tearful video on Instagram claiming they had not been able to contact her for a year.
'Whatever she's involved in she has some kind of control over her that's making her afraid. Prior to her being involved in this religious group, we'd never had an argument,' her mother said.
Miranda insists that she is not being held against her will and that her relationship with her family has simply deteriorated. Shinn and 7M also strongly deny running a cult, claiming all of the dancers have access to their own phones, social media accounts and can speak to whoever they like.
