MELAKA: Two women, including a deputy director of a government agency, have been remanded for five days in connection with a false claim for office services and supplies worth RM15,000.
Magistrate Sharda Shienha Mohd Suleiman allowed the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) application under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code to remand them until May 9 to assist with the investigation.
The civil servant was detained at 7.10pm yesterday, while the other woman, a contractor, was arrested an hour earlier when giving her statement at the Melaka MACC office.
Sources said initial investigations revealed the suspects, aged 41 and 43, were believed to be involved in submitting false documents for the December 2025 claim.
Melaka MACC director Adi Supian Shafie confirmed the arrests when contacted, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.
