The Biden administration is asking a federal district court in Illinois to throw out a lawsuit seeking refunds for fees paid by Ukrainians who applied for work authorization in the US.
The lawsuit, filed by nearly 200 Ukrainians in August in the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, challenged a US Citizenship and Immigration Services requirement—which the agency subsequently dropped—that Ukrainians fleeing war in their home country apply for employment authorization and pay a $410 fee.
