Josh Van Kampen, an employment lawyer and the founder of Van Kampen Law, suggests that lawyers should take a basic step — documenting any positive feedback they receive — in case they could face the prospect of a layoff sometime in the future. In this video, his recommendations include:
- “Keep contemporaneous notes as positive feedback is coming in to the lawyer, to document that — the date, the speaker and the content and even using quotation marks.”
- “I also recommend to clients to then email back to the person giving the positive feedback, thanking them for the positive comments and asking if there is anything else that they can do better.”
