Reserve Bank of Australia governor Michele Bullock has confirmed the central bank will retender multiple contracts with KPMG, following the consulting firm’s admission it had failed to adequately address its whistleblower’s allegations.
Bullock told a Senate Committee hearing on Thursday afternoon that the RBA will look for new providers for its FairCall whistleblower program, worth $10,000 a year. Capital Brief revealed on Tuesday the RBA was reviewing its contract with KPMG.
“I don’t think we’ll be reappointing them to the whistleblower service. We are re-tendering for that,” Bullock said, in response to questions from Greens Senator Barbara Pocock.
Labor Senator Deborah O’Neill told Capital Brief earlier this week it would be an “untenable proposition” for KPMG to continue as the operator of the RBA’s hotline.
