WASHINGTON, D.C., OCTOBER 6, 2025 – Following a letter signed by over 280 former prosecutors, FBI agents, intelligence analysts, immigration judges, and attorneys slamming President Trump for destroying the Department of Justice (DOJ) through violating court orders and weaponizing law enforcement against perceived enemies, Whistleblower Aid Chief Legal Counsel Andrew Bakaj released the following statement:
“While none of this should surprise us given President Trump’s conduct since January, the American public conscience should continually be shocked by this President’s demonization of public servants and the agencies in which they operate. That somehow this administration’s direct assault on the Constitution and on the rule of law has been normalized is startlingly dangerous. What’s happening is not normal.
The people who signed this letter are non-partisan, sworn to uphold the Constitution – and they are sounding the alarm on the President’s reckless disregard for the constitutional norms that have been upheld for nearly 250 years. This moment demands that we recognize the gravity of this President’s authoritarian whims and that we refuse to accept the erosion of our democratic institutions as though this is an average day in what used to be our democracy.
