The disclosure, hard copies of which DOJ OIG received on May 5th, raised the alarm that senior Department of Justice officials – including Emil Bove – may have violated laws, rules, or regulations – notably with respect to a March 2025 Temporary Restraining Order (“TRO”) issued in a matter before a U.S. District Court. DOJ OIG’s failure here has resulted in the Department failing to take immediate investigative and corrective actions, and left U.S. Senators without critical facts surrounding a nominee for a lifetime appointment as a Federal Appellate judge.
“That the DOJ Office of Inspector General has abdicated its core responsibility should alarm everyone,” said Whistleblower Aid CEO Libby Liu. “We are asking Congress to investigate why the DOJ OIG failed to even read our disclosure and how it is that they ‘lost’ it in the first place, so this won’t happen again.
