A WHISTLEBLOWER fears vulnerable residents at a homeless centre are at risk because it is operating without dedicated vital nursing, drug and alcohol support - as a major review is launched into it.
Former staff from the Inverclyde Centre on Dalrymple Street claim that vulnerable residents are no longer getting the care they need.
The hostel had previously come under the spotlight following complaints raised by the family of Anthony Fowler, who died while living there.
Now the Tele has been told by that the facility - once recognised as a leader in its sector - no longer has a dedicated community nurse, drug or alcohol worker.
One former staff member told the Tele: "The Inverclyde Centre was once considered to be leading the way, with staff even recognised in the Scottish Parliament.
"I am concerned that a community nurse was never replaced and there is no longer a designated drug worker in there.
"When the last community nurse left, files with detailed health notes were dumped before Covid and later found in a skip.
"Residents used to be taken out on fishing trips, there were group activities and a creative writing course.
"The centre was praised by the Royal College of Nursing for having a community nurse on hand to meet needs.
"But that all no longer takes places.
"I am very concerned for residents."
Bosses at the health and social care partnership say that the centre's model of care has changed and that they have plans to do more to support homeless people.
