Whistleblower lawsuit filed against Hermantown School District - kare11.com

According to the lawsuit, district administrators and the school board voted not to renew her contract after she brought up legal concerns.

HERMANTOWN, Minn. — Hermantown School District is facing a whistleblower lawsuit that claims leadership retaliated against an employee after she reported district failures.

According to a complaint filed by Storms Dworak LLC, a former speech-language pathologist was praised for her work with students until she reported concerns to the district. She had said the Individualized Education Program services at the school had been revised and ended without parental consent, which violates the law.

Then, district administrators and the school board denied her workplace privileges, disciplined her and voted not to renew her contract, according to Storms Dworak LLC. The Minnesota Court of Appeals reinstated the plaintiff and she is now suing for lost income, emotional distress, humiliation, intimidation, reputational harm and other compensable injuries.

KARE 11 contacted Hermantown School District and will update this once district leadership has responded.
