A woman previously jailed for trying to get money from vulnerable victims in their homes has been returned to prison after breaching her licence within days of being released. Romayne Thompson, 30, of Newland Street West, Lincoln, was jailed for 20 weeks on November 2, 2022 after pleading guilty to four fraud by false representation charges.
She also admitted a breach of a previously issued criminal behaviour order which prohibited begging. Thompson had approached people in their homes and made false claims, including being pregnant, unwell and a charity worker to elicit money, with cash handed over during one incident.
She was released on Tuesday, January 10, and data from her voluntary GPS tag identified that she had breached her licence condition and exclusion zone within a day. She was then arrested on Thursday, January 12 and will now serve the remaining 10 weeks in custody.
The four offences where she made false statements to get money took place on October 20, 2022 in Skellingthorpe village, starting at around 6pm. One incident involved approaching a resident at her home and claiming she was the granddaughter of a local person, before asking to come inside and state that she was pregnant and unwell.
Minutes later, Thompson made the same claim at a different address and asked for money or a lift back to town. She tried to get into the house but the owner's dog blocked her path, enabling the resident to close the door.
