Bad actors tried to hijack the 2020 election in Wisconsin. They may try again. - Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

Wisconsin is no stranger to being center stage in American politics. The state often leads the way — for better or worse.

The progressive movement was in significant part born here. Wisconsin was the first state to ratify the 19th Amendment, extending voting rights to women.

But is also is the state that sent Joe McCarthy to the Senate.

There are few issues of national import that aren’t influenced by our state, and the events of Jan. 6, 2021, are no exception.

As congressional committee hearings reveal never-before-seen details of that day and its long run-up, Wisconsin’s central role in the scheme to overturn the peaceful transition of power is being showcased. In fact, the alleged nationwide conspiracy, which has been uncovered by the Jan. 6 Committee, runs straight through Wisconsin.

Let’s start with the state's fake presidential electors.

Several of the fake electors had positions of power

Following the November 2020 election, a recount, and extensive post-election litigation that repeatedly confirmed the election results, 10 individuals impersonated Wisconsin’s authorized presidential electors. These fake electors created phony documents that were transmitted for use by Congress.

Their purpose: to hijack Wisconsin’s role in selecting the next U.S. president. The documents claimed that a candidate who lost the election in Wisconsin had won the state's 10 votes in the Electoral College.
