Throughout this month, we will be posting portraits of female legal pioneers, discussing issues of concern for women in the law, recognizing women in law and in tech working towards securing access to justice, and celebrating women who exemplify the term ‘role model’ for both attorneys and citizens.

Neither of the two stories dominating the news this week – Donald Trump’s alleged efforts to conceal an extra-marital affair and a Fox News producer’s lawsuit alleging that she was made a scapegoat in the station’s legal battles with Dominion Voting Systems – would be on the nation’s collective radar screen, much less poised to change politics as we have come to know it, were it not for two brave women. Regardless of one’s political leanings, one cannot take quarrel with the fact that it takes courage to do what Stormy Daniels and Abby Grossberg have done. The unique challenges and sexism women face in and adjacent to the workplace become even more pronounced when they make accusations against the powerful. The Academy of Management recently published a study which found that female whistleblowers face more and more severe retaliation when reporting unethical behavior.

Calloquy salutes women who identify wrongdoing and had the courage to divulge it.
