He was fired for conduct he says he never committed - after repeated race complaints
A former FedEx Supply Chain worker says he was fired days after a shoulder injury - and after repeatedly complaining of racial bias.
The employee, a Black man who joined FedEx Supply Chain, Inc. in April 2021 as a production worker, sued the supply-chain company in federal court in Tennessee on July 29, 2026. According to the complaint, he alleges race and disability discrimination and retaliation under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act. He filed a charge with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and received a notice of suit rights before bringing the case, the filing says.
His account centers on the arrival of a new supervisor in late 2023. From that point, the complaint says, established workplace norms began to change. It alleges the supervisor divided his team, reassigned him and enforced the rules unequally - singling him out for talking and singing while white co-workers did the same without consequence. One white colleague, according to the filing, regularly sang and shouted along to country music and was never disciplined.
The worker also alleges the supervisor removed music associated with African American culture from the company's shared sound system while allowing music from white artists to play.
