MACC Remands Real Estate Agent Over False Claims - bernama

KUALA TERENGGANU, Aug 26 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Terengganu branch today remanded a real estate agent from a company in the state on suspicion of submitting claims containing false details involving house renovation work amounting to about RM16,000.

According to a MACC source, the suspect was detained when he turned up to give a statement at the Terengganu MACC office at about 12 pm yesterday.

"Preliminary investigations found that the man is believed to have committed the act in 2022 by submitting an amended quote for the cost of renovation work on a house to the homeowner.

"The suspect is also believed to have received bribes from the homeowner through a fund transfer into his personal bank account,” said the source.

Meanwhile, Terengganu MACC director Hazrul Shazreen Abd Yazid, when contacted, confirmed the arrest and said the case is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.
