Pakistan mounts campaign of lies, deceit and disinformation
The most prominent among these was a video shared by Pakistani social media handles falsely claiming a strike on an Indian military base in Amritsar. The clip was found to be an unrelated wildfire video from 2024.
PIB cautioned against sharing such disinformation, urging citizens to verify updates through official Indian government sources.
“Pakistan-based handles are spreading old videos falsely alleging strikes on a military base in Amritsar,” PIB said on X. “The video being shared is from a wildfire from 2024. Avoid sharing unverified information and rely only on official sources from the Government of India for accurate information.”
