PIB debunks false claims of Pakistani strikes on Indian air bases - DD News

The Press Information Bureau’s (PIB) Fact Check unit has refuted a series of misleading claims circulating on social media, including viral reports falsely alleging that Pakistan has destroyed multiple Indian air bases.

In a post on X, PIB Fact Check clarified that a video broadcast by ‘AIK News’ claiming Pakistan had destroyed the Udhampur Air Base is fake.

“This video shows a fire incident at a chemical factory in Hanumangarh, Rajasthan. It’s unrelated to the current India–Pakistan situation,” the agency said, adding that the Udhampur base remains fully operational.

Another widely shared clip, purportedly showing a Pakistani strike on the Nagrota Air Base, was also debunked.

“This video was originally posted on Instagram in October 2024,” PIB Fact Check said.

Similarly, social media claims that the Bhatinda Airfield had been destroyed were declared completely false.

“The Bathinda Airfield is FULLY OPERATIONAL and there is NO DAMAGE WHATSOEVER,” the unit confirmed.

A separate video being circulated as footage of a missile strike on New Delhi Airport was also exposed as fake. The clip actually shows a gas station explosion that occurred in Aden, Yemen, in August 2024.

The PIB Fact Check unit urged citizens to verify information through official sources and cautioned that such disinformation appears to be part of a coordinated propaganda campaign aimed at spreading panic and disturbing communal harmony.
