Police in Dundee charged the girl over an alleged knife incident in St Ann Lane, Lochee, on Saturday evening. Footage of the event went viral on social media, prompting unfounded claims that a “migrant” was involved.
Officers responded after several police vehicles were seen at the Balgay Street car park and launched an investigation. Police confirmed on Monday that they had charged the girl and would report her to the relevant authorities. They added that no one else is currently under arrest or wanted.
Since the charge, social media users have circulated misinformation about the girl and her friend, including speculation about the ethnicity of those filming.
